Hot rolling is one of the key industrial capabilities of Ascodunes, based in Leffrinckoucke, in northern France. It is fully integrated into a comprehensive steel processing offering designed to meet the technical and regulatory requirements of industrial clients.
Hot rolling is a structuring step in the metallurgical process. It defines product geometry, material stability, and the quality of subsequent operations.
Steel hot rolling consists of transforming the material at high temperature — typically around 1,270°C — using an industrial rolling mill. This operation reduces the cross-section of the steel, elongates the bar, and homogenizes the internal structure of the material.
At Ascodunes, hot rolling is integrated into a complete production chain designed to ensure material performance, industrial reliability, and compliance with national and international standards.
The rolling mill at the Leffrinckoucke site is specifically designed for hot rolling long steel bars with large cross-sections (80 to 313 mm). It enables the processing of various steel grades intended for demanding industrial applications.
This stage aims to achieve controlled geometry and high metallurgical consistency.
The Ascodunes hot rolling mill relies on precise control of production parameters. Accurate monitoring of temperatures, rolling speeds, and roll settings ensures consistent quality and excellent repeatability.
This industrial control guarantees perfect alignment between the rolling stage and the other process steps carried out on site.
